Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64)
AVG Anti-Virus Free 18.1.3044

After installing the AVG Anti-Virus Free 18.1.3044, I did a Deep Scan.  This included both my hard drives (each divided into two logical partitions), rootkit (full scan), and auto-start programs and modules loaded in memory; the checkbox for "Scan all files" was checked.  It did not include removable media since none were attached at the time. 

Yet I got "Last computer scan: 5 months ago".  Is there any scan more comprehensive than this?  If not, why does a Computer scan give the correct statement for "Last computer scan" while Deep Scan does not?

AVG Antivirus Free always shows:  "Last computer scan:  5 months ago" when opened.

Thank you for providing the requested screenshot.
Please click on "Scan Computer" on the AVG Antivirus free and when the scan completes, it should show the correct message for "last computer scan".
Keep me informed about the status.

I would like to inform you that the Last Scan Status will only update when you run a Scan Manually by clicking on the Scan Computer Button in your AVG Anti-Virus Free User Interface.

This is how the interface was designed for the latest version.

"Last scan" status will only change when you run scan from "Computer scan".

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

However, the version doesn't seem to be correct. The latest version of AVG Anti Virus Free is 18.1. Please provide me with a screenshot of your AVG Anti-Virus User Interface and also of the AVG Version. Click here for the steps to create a screenshot.

You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Hi Akash,  You are right.  I went to my desktop and clicked on the wrong icon (Firefox) instead of AVG.  My AVG version is:

If that is how the interface was designed, that is a faulty design.  Fix it. 

NOTE WELL:  I assert this is a faulty design as a consequence of my 30+ years (now retired) as a software test engineer, during which I not only tested highly complex systems used for operating military space satellites but also wrote specifications for such systems and reviewed developers' designs for those systems.

HI Akash,

Thank you for your response.  I recently update to AVG 58.0.2 and that is when the problem began.  Prior to that, the Last Computer Scan always showed the last scan.  Now it always shows "5 months ago."  When I do a scan, it is always the Deep Scan.  This happens on both my computer and my wife's computer - both which are updated to version 58.0.2.   So, it would seem this is a problem in the update.  In the prior version, for several weeks there was a similar problem - and a number of people on this forum asked about it.  Evidently tech support fixed the problem and it went away.  Now with the latest update, this problem is occurring.  I am just curious why no one seems to have reported it to AVG Support yet.  Surely my wife and I are not the only ones with this problem.  Thank you, Bill
