Hello Paul,
This isn't the expected behavior.
It looks like an issue with the user interface of AVG.
Are you using the free or paid version of AVG Antivirus?
Could you click on 'scan computer' on AVG Antivirus program and see whether the 'last virus scan' gets updated once the scan is completed?
If not, perform repair of AVG Antivirus as mentioned in this article and check the status with schedule scan too.
Keep us apprised about the status.
OK, Version 19.8 is active. I can do that repair but I need you to confirm such effort will not be wasted because Balasubramanian stated I should perform repair if clicking on "Scan Computer" does not update "last virus scan."
>However, manual scan is in fact the only way the last virus scan gets updated–that works!
Will performing repair possibly fix my situation whereby "scheduled scans" fail to update "last virus scan"? If repair is indicated, please reference the instructions/article on how to do that as I do not see a referenced article. Thank you.

Manual scan computer has always updated the "last virus scan."
I believe someone at AVG once told me the expected behavior is NOT to update last scan when scheduled scans complete.
So, please confirm what the expected behavior is. I am getting mixed signals.

Please advise as to what normal behavior should be and, if my experience is not normal, how do I fix it?
The last virus scan date should be updated after all scans (irrespective of manual, schedule scans).
If not, then it is the unusual behavior. In that case, you may need to repair the program & ensure that the latest version (19.8) of AVG is installed on your computer.
We see that our colleague has suggested you to repair AVG. Would you be so kind to let us know if you've tried repairing?
