Last virus scan

I have got used to the inaccuracy of 'Last virus scan' but today's effort was remarkable. It stated that I had never used the scan! I have used AVG for at least two years and scan frequently.
Can anybody tell me what is the purpose of this link?

Hi Laurence.
Did you repair or reinstall AVG Internet Security recently?
Please note that the last virus scan status is updated when scan is started by clicking the 'Scan computer' on the main interface.
