Latest AVG antivirus update produces error message with AVG VPN

Sometimes, you might receive this message, if the installer is corrupted or an attempt of overriding has happened.
In this regard, we'd suggest you to reinstall AVG Secure VPN once to ensure that all services are running fine.

I've just updated to latest AVG internet security and restarted. Now AVG VPN will not start - produces the error message "the application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect".
Any ideas?
