Note : Please use the AVG Remover tool mentioned on the article to uninstall the AVG program more effectively.

Bert, AVG informed you that they had escalated the issue to the developers and they are working to fix it. It will be resolved as soon as possible.

I've also suffered this problem. Despite numerous attempts by AVG Technical staff, it remains unresolved for my PC and AVG have offered a refund!
A few days ago I tried to start up AVG's GUI and got the error code 0xe0010053. Today I tried to start up the AVG GUI and got the error code 0xa001f90d. Which I hadn't installed this new version of AVG 2017. What a mess!
Also configured a weekly scan schedule and not only didn't it run, but the weekly schedule disappeared from the app.
