Latest AVG Internet Security

Hello Sk,

If you are using a private network, then you can change the network profile to "private" from AVG Firewall settings.
This will not affect the communication happening on the network.
If the profile is chosen as "Public" then AVG firewall would limit the connectivity or block it.
The reason is because there are huge chances for your computer to be vulnerable when it is connected to a public network.
If you trust the network, then open AVG Internet Security program interface.
Click on "Hacker Attacks–>Firewall Options–>Network Profiles".
Select "Private" for each network that you trust and start using it.

I installed the latest AVG internet security yesterday and after that, I was not able to connect to any of my home and office wifi hotspots for the internet. After a lot of searching, I found that all the network profiles for internet connections are crossed red under Menu > settings > Full Protection > Enhanced Firewall  – List of Network Profiles at the bottom. I disable Enhanced Firewall and the connections happened. Again switched on the Enhanced Firewall and the connection remained. But if I change to any other hotspot, the same things happen.

Is there any way to mark a network profile as safe so that whenever it is available the connection can be made easily without disturbing the Enhanced Firewall settings everytime?

Hi,

I gave my laptop to the remote access and the issue was looked to be resolved at that time, but I was doubtful as I did the same setting changes earlier and failed.

My doubt came true when I restarted the laptop after 1 hour and faced the same issue. All the settings remained as it was done by the support executive in the remote control. I was so frustrated that I uninstalled AVG completely and looking for some other alternative suitable for my system.

This is just to update you about the final happening.

Hello Bala,

Thank you for your reply.

I followed the instructions and did the changes. But there is no change in situations. I had to follow the same procedure to connect to the internet. The private status of the network profiles is saved, but after reboot when I try to connect the internet, I had to disable Enhanced Firewall and only then the connection got feasible.
