We would request you to repair AVG Internet Security program first and then check if it helps.
If not, please try to uninstall AVG Internet Security using AVG clear tool and then reinstall it.

You can repair your AVG Internet Security by following steps,
1. Press your window key and type "appwiz.cpl" and hit "Enter"
2. Here you can see the list of installed applications in your PC.
3. Uninstall the conflicting antivirus (If found).
4. Uninstall the AVG Internet Security and click "Uninstall".
5. Now select repair and continue. 
6. Restart your PC.

Has anyone had problems with the stability of the application since the latest update? Let me explain, I open the program works fine go to settings and check for virus definition which I received an update, then I check the application update which is downloaded and installed. Know the fun begins, when I open the application it closes so I try the repair still the same then I uninstall/re-install still the same. Is the application working in the background?
I have win 10 64bit with windows security which was the first thing I checked with no compatibility issues to report. Could it be a firewall issue?

Exactly. Just got a reply from the team and it's the user interface. Any suggestions on a fix. It tried the clear tool from AVG which uninstalls old files and I reinstalled still the same. Could it be a DLL file that is corrupt?

I tried your suggestion, no change. Not to push a competitor I installed ESET ND32 and it works fine. I should have mentioned yesterday in my original post that I installed AVAST which behaves in the same manner as AVG. It opens and closes by itself. You should verify the latest update for bugs.
