At AVG, we pride ourselves on giving our 100% every day to ensure that our customer's needs are being met. We are sending the activation steps via email because every renewal generate a new license number and we have to activate the AVG Internet Security using new license number.
It is to make the activation process easier. If you have already activated AVG Internet Security using new license number and it shows the expiry date as 11/21/2019 (open AVG Internet Security > My AVG > My Subscription > expiry date) then you can ignore the activation email.

Hi. Why is AVG renewal so difficult? I renewed, paid, got my license no. and presumably typed it into the right place because when I pull up AVG it shows my new license number and new expiration date. I get an email today saying here's your new license number and instructions to install my new software. What the hell? Am I all set then or what? This same thing happened last year and ended up talking to some foreigner and was still confused. I will not be renewing again next year unless they make it easier or stop sending confusing and unnecessary emails.
