The issues might be because of old/previous AVG traces.
In this case, I request you to remove AVG completely along with any previous traces using the AVG clear tool/AVG Remover tool and then do a fresh installation of AVG Antivirus free. This will ensure that none of the previous traces of AVG are left on your computer and you have an updated version.
Please follow the instruction ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool.
After the computer reboots, you can follow the instruction to download/install AVG Antivirus free.

I have been a long-time customer of your great product. I had used the free version for a while and then decided to purchase Pro. I had the automatic renewal option activated and have enjoyed Pro for a number of years. My subscription didn't renew this year. At this point, my goal is to re-establish the free version and have it fully functional. At a later date, I will probably buy the Pro version again. But since the time my previous Pro subscription expired, I've had a series of prompts that are continually popping up. First, it was a prompt saying that my license needed to be updated. When I click it, it says it's preparing for download, then is says completed in 5 seconds, 3 seconds, and then it said installation could not be completed and gave me an error code. I do not presently have that code. Now I receive a message continually that states my computer needs to be restarted to resolve the software/licensing issue. The computer restarts, but the issue is not resolved. And I get another message to restart. At this point, I would just like the free version to completely function. Until then, I won't have the confidence to purchase Pro at a later date. I was thinking of removing the programs from my system and trying to reload the free version. But I wasn't sure if that would be successful since I already have an existing account with my email addressed specified with my current version. Best for me is to resolve the software licensing issue so that it no longer prompts me to restart my computer. I just want the free version to work like it did before I purchased Pro. Please advise.
