Lightroom Slow down

Within the past 6 months or so Lightroom Classic has been taking longer and longer to start up, right now it takes 2 1/2 minutes just to come to the point where I can use it. I posted the problem to a LR community forum and one on the responders said to make sure my anti-virus software wasn't scanning my LR catalog files. How would I know if it was or not? And is there a known conflict causing poor LR response?

I use several other photo editing applications, but none of them have shown any such problems.
