Have done a clean reinstall as suggested and that seems to have solved the issue.  Thanks for your assistance

A message comes up you are not protected as linkscanner outdated.  I press Fix IT and nothing happens

Note : Please use the AVG Remover tool mentioned on the article to uninstall the AVG program more effectively.
