Hi guys

I have AVG Internet Security (last version) installed on my local Windows 10 machine.

A number of months ago I set the local password feature ("Authorization") to avoid any hacks attempts should they get thru all other obstacles. This has been working fine, albeit a bit of a pain sometimes and you need to (a) enter an initial pwd on app launch, AND then (b) on every option change (e.g. select Settings) - being the same password each time.

However, today I needed to make a change to my firewall rules. Entered the pwd on launch as usual, app displays normally, but when I attempt to enter the pwd again the app tells me the "Wrong Password!" regardless of which option I attempt - eh!??

Checked for all the usual problems e.g. caps lock, typing slowly to avoid typos, etc - but to no avail.

I have only ever supplied one password for this feature! Why is AVG now preventing me accessing any options beyond the initial app?

At the moment I am completely ham-strung - can't even remove this feature as I need the 'correct' password.

Any ideas what's happening here?

Cheers

However,

Hello Tony,

This is not an expected behaviour of AVG Internet Security. It will not block any of the password feature activated on your Windows PC. If you think AVG program causing this password issue, kindly disable AVG Internet Security components and check the status. Refer the below article to know how to disable AVG components :

Temporarily disabling AVG AntiVirus protection (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=disable-avg-antivirus)

Keep us updated. Thank you.

Sorry, at we at cross-purposes here… ths problem I have is accessing the app on the PC using the local pwd I have set previously, not attempting to logon to my account online. I thought the authenticator was used for MF account authentication - not for local app access?

Any chance someone could address my issue as originally posted above i.e. Local Password Not Working (ish), as to me Sreenu Yadavalli's response does not make sense in this context?

Thanks
