before the most recent Windows updates on the 9th of the month, AVG Free had been locking up on rootkit scans on my Windows 10 system. I was told this would be resolved after the most recent Windows updates.
HAVE THEY??? can't find my old thread anywhere…if support thought it was 'solved' they were sadly mistaken…i have already abandoned AVG and am wondering if it is even worth another try…
AS I STATED, I have abandoned AVG (i.e. not reinstalled yet…) as i did not need the grief of constant lockups…am i here asking this question to get AVG response if this 'known' issue has been resolved. I will try again with the latest version of AVG Free IF i hear that the latest Windows update has resolved this issue…

It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue. Unfortunately, there has not been a Microsoft update since released after that issue has occurred. As a temporary fix, please reinstall the Visual C++ Redistributables package from the website: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=30679 .
