Thank you for the precise information, Midhun. The conclusion that AVG Internet Security was blocking backups was from the JungleDisk tech during a live shared-screen troubleshooting session. After disabling AVG as described in the link you sent, we checked and saw certain AVG components were still running in the background. I don't know which. We did not know to go through the steps of disabling every AVG component (thinking the main "disable" switch would actually disable everything). This is a lot of effort for a common backup that should automatically run in the background. More confounding is that the JungleDisk backup and AVG worked together fine 12-18 months ago. With ongoing software updates, something must have changed. I will try the process of disabling individual components. However, my original question has not been addressed, which I will amend: Are there backup services that are known to be fully compatible with AVG Internet Security when running automatic backups in the background (not requiring manual intervention)? Thank you very much for the assistance.
Hi Jon,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community.
We're glad to clarify this for you.
AVG is currently compatible on Windows, MAC, Android & iOS.
It can't be used on cloud storage. However, if you prefer, we can raise a request on your behalf to our billing team to ensure the same.
Awaiting your confirmation!
My current backup service for computers & connected storage drive, JungleDisk, has determined it is incompatible with my AVG Internet Security. Which backup providers are 100% compatible with AVG? Thank you.
Thank you, Dinesh. To clarify, AVG interferes blocks backups of computer data and connected storage drive to an offsite 3rd party service. Appropriate exceptions have been enabled to essentially "whitelist" interaction with JungleDisk (which is like Carbonite or IDrive). For a time in the past this was not a problem, but sometime over the past year or so my AVG Internet Security began blocking automatic backups to JungleDisk. Are you saying AVG will not allow use of any remote data backup system? That seems odd, as data backup is common and a best practice. Yes, please escalate this question to appropriate authorities at AVG. Thank you again.
With that info, the backup is working now. Thank you, Midhun. So, the key was step 5, enabling "Allow incoming file and printer sharing over SMB protocol" and "Allow incoming remote desktop (RDP) connections." I wasn't going to leave AVG, but I wanted to avoid changing my backup service. Assistance through the Support Community made that possible and ended a big headache. This service is another reason to stick with AVG. --Jon

Thank you for writing back to us, Jon.
We'd like to inform you that AVG doesn't block any data backup services in particular.
In your case, we assume that a certain component setting in your AVG Internet Security could be causing this issue.
Please follow the below steps and check if the issue persists:
- Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings.
- Basic Protection > Firewall.
- Enable "Allow internet connection sharing mode".
- Then, click on "View firewall rules".
- Under "Basic rules", make sure that "Allow incoming file and printer sharing over SMB protocol" and "Allow incoming remote desktop (RDP) connections" are enabled.
- Also, make sure that your internet/wifi network is categorized as a "Trusted" network.
Refer to this article for detailed instructions (with pictures) to perform the above steps.
Once you've performed the above steps, restart your computer once and check for the issue.
Keep us updated.
Thank you for updating the status and for your kind words, Jon.
Glad to hear that your issue has been resolved.
Feel free to contact us if you need any assistance regarding AVG.
We'd be happy to help you. Have a great day!
