Low internet speed due to AVG

I am only getting 1/4 of my internet speed with AVG free activated. How can I solve this problem?

Thank you for the information Peter,
May I know if the issue is resolved when AVG protection is disabled? Right click on AVG system tray icon and toggle the On/Off slider to disable AVG protection.
