The free download for Antivrus from C-Net requires OS X 10.8 or later. Can I get a download from somewhere else which runs on 10.7.5.

And when I download AVG, do I need to remove any existing software on the Mac?

We are sorry to inform that there is no download link to install older version of AVG for old Mac computers. To install AVG, you need to upgrade your Mac computer to latest version and after which you will be able to install AVG without any issue.
