Maddening: "AVG is out of date" message

Hello Brad,
I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. The notification emails that you are receiving are regarding the second AVG Internet Security license you had. I would request you to ignore those emails. Regarding 'Out of date' message on AVG interface, it could be caused due to incomplete installation of update files. I would suggest you to uninstall AVG completely and reinstall it.  Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No"
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer".

After restart, run AVG Remover and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework,…) as suggested in this article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG .

Hi – AVG tells me it is out of date. I update, it looks like it is working, it tells me it is done, I hit OK and… AVG tells me it is out of date. Repeat. Searched around on here, and I did the control panel>programs>change, and it repaired (with a message that AVG has been successfully repaired) and… AVG tells me it is out of date. 

Perhaps related – I had a couple of licenses with AVG, and earlier this year phoned their support and had them rolled into a license for multiple computers. The renew date is in 2018, but recently have been getting emails telling me my plan expired. But when I log in, I see 2018 as a renew date.
