AVG will detect if there is any malware present in your device.
I request you to use the Ransomware Protection to scan those folder/files and check if the AVG detects the malware.

Despite that i have a full paid subscription i discovered that most of files are now hijacked and encrypted with .makop! even the backups i run from my pc to my NAS drive! i have the latest version of AVG and fully updated and doing scan from another pc to the NAS drive and i can see in the scan that it sees the .makop files but is not doing anything or alerting from it! Very dissapointed!
