malware-gen[Tr]clients2googleusercontent.com

Hi,

its the free version, fully updated, and this message ONLY occurs a few seconds after when I start Chrome.  does not occur at any other time.

I did notice last night though that the message has subtly changed and is now showing [Trj] TRJ.  with the same path and reasoning in the detection for PUP detection.

Hi dinesh,

sorry for the delay in answering, ive been away.

browswer reset, but makes no difference.  Ive even added the google address in the screenshot into the blocked sites list and it makes do difference, it still tries to connect a few senonds after i launch the browser.

Dinesh,

just back from another week away.  Last job I did before i left was to uninstall Chrome, run a reg cleaner and remove all entries, then dump the temp files.

I restarted and then reinstalled chrome - as I have my settings etc synched this isnt a major issue, and on launching the browser a short while ago I have had no, zero, recurrences of the detection, so that leads me to conclude that despite multiple negative scans from both AVG and Malwarebytes that there was some payload file in the temp folder tree that was responsible.

Thank you for the scrednshot, Phil.
I believe that this is a false detection and it shows the path as Chrome.exe.
However, I request you to restart your computer and do not access any applications for few minutes.
If you get the same threat detection, then we can confirm that it is occurring at rare instances and to analyze further, we will send you the email instructions then.
Let us know the status of this and mention whether you are using the free or paid version of AVG?

Hi all,

Starting to get detection messages namely as in the title.  This has only started in the last few days.  It occurs on the first loading of the homepage in google, and if i block the connection it does not re-occur until after computer restart.  However, I do wonder if this is a false positive, as the descriptions Ive found suggest that its a PUP detector rather than actual malware.

Does anyone have any info on this actual file?  malware-gen[BTr].  I can find numerous references to [TRj] or similar but not [Tr].  If its a genuine PUP detector from Google i have no issues, but its difficult to determine with the classifications being so similar to many proven malwares

I pray that if you find the solution let me know because the same thing happens to me and I have already stopped using the chrome browser

Thank you for providing us the info, Phil.
Upon checking the screenshot, it seems that there could be a possibility of an extension to connect to an unknown/malicious source. Hence, AVG has notified this. In order to ensure this, please try resetting your browser once & check if it helps.

To me the same thing happens to me. I just did what you say and the route of both origin and destination of Chrome is fine and there is nothing weird

Hi Phil,

We're glad to look into this & help you.
For better clarity, share us the screenshot of the AVG notification after clicking on the 'See details' option that is available in the pop up.
This will reveal us the exact file/url, AVG component that is blocking the connection.
Meanwhile, please try to access different browsers & check if you receive the same pop up.
