Hello Sarah,
Thank you for the information.
If there is no AVG program mentioned in the Control panel list then it should have got removed or the installation files would have got corrupted.
It is better to run the AVG remover tool once and install AVG.
1) To download the AVG remover tool please click on this link:
http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe
2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.

Hello,
Somehowe I got a browser hijacker oem_NewSearch123 on my computer and hijackt Chrome. It is running in Microsoft Windows 7.
I can't seem to remove it, and AVG doesn't detect it (I have a paid account). I have tried finding it at 'installed programms' and I have tried resetting Crhome settings.
So, the question is: what can I doe to remove this?
Regards,
Bianca
- Your computer will be restarted automatically. After the restart, AVG Remover will finish the uninstallation.
NOTE: Once the AVG Remover Tool has done with its process. Please go to the C drive and look for a folder named as "AVG Remover" and I request you to delete it manually.
As per our record, you have purchased the AVG protection multidevice subscription, to download, install and activate it please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1FKGRZI .

No, the reason we provided you the reinstallation instructions is because you mentioned that AVG is not listed on the control panel list. So reinstall AVG and scan your PC and check whether you were able to remove oem_NewSearch123.
AVG programs are capable of detecting and removing the malware programs, however there are numerous number of malware programs emerging day by day and we are working 24/7 to add all those definitions to our database. We request you to start uninstalling all unknown, unnecessary programs from your computer, make sure you dont uninstall the windows programs. Also remove all the weird, unwanted add-ons, plugins, extensions, tool bars and search bars from your web browsers, if the issue persists, reset your browsers once. This should fix your issue. Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.

I've done all of this several times. I've updated AVG and run a full computer scan a couple of times a day for the past few days - but still can't use Google Chrome without NewSearch123 taking over it. I've tried all of the steps suggested on other websites (apart from downloading supposed removal tools in case they are infected as well), but still no joy. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome several times, but the whenever I open it up, NewSearch123 is still showing. Now I can't even see Chrome in my program list to uninstall it any more. I'm worried the infection is starting to make things worse and as I am self-employed and need my computer to be safe I'm getting increasingly worried about what might happen next. Have any of your other customers been having the same issue? Thanks

Thanks
Sarah
Yes, I have scanned my entire computer several times with AVG over the past few days in case there was an update that might pick this up. Nothing found though.
I cannot see the program in the Control panel list of programs so cannot uninstall that way.
Thanks
Sarah
