Hi Kennedy.
We're here to help.
Which email client (Outlook or Fiefox) do you use to check your emails?
If you believe the attachment is a real threat, please remove the email from your inbox.
I recently had a serious infection on some computers. It has been contained. As part of the actions we took was to install AVG Internet Security on all computers. We have identified a possible source of the infection as an email attachment disguised as an Excel file. We use an in-house Exchange server for email. Regardless of how thoroughly we scan AVG finds no threats. BUT if we attempt to forward the offending email AVG does pop-up and identify the virus and say it is being quarantined.
NOTE AVG WAS INSTALLED AFTER THIS INFECTED EMAIL WAS ALREADY IN THE MAILBOX.
My questions are:
1. Why does AVG not catch the attachment as malware when we scan?
2. Why is the offending email with attachment still in the mailbox after AVG pop-up?
