Recently my computer running Windows 7 was hacked by a company known as Anchor Free Inc. when it installed McAfee Safe Connect without my permission. Since I neither desire or require McAfee Safe Connect I have several times attempted to uninstall it. The uninstall process always asks me to allow AnchorFree to access my hard drive. I presume AnchorFree wants to sell me a product that will enable me to uninstall McAfee Safe Connect. Pop-ups asking me to update McAfee Safe Connect are becoming more and more frequent and are disrupting my computer use. The point of this message is why did AVG initially not block this hack and how can I solve this problem without being further hacked by AnchorFree.
Hello Candice,
Let's have a look at it together. Have you provided any remote access to your computer recently? Is there a chance that they installed it for you?
Some of the programs might get installed on your computer unknowingly while trying to install any other programs or by clicking any suspicious links.
We recommend you to download McAfee remover http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp to uninstall these products and check the status.
