Hello Rachael,
I'm sorry to hear about this. It might be because of the previous/old AVG updates. You can remove all the AVG traces using AVG Remover and AVG Clear tool. If AVG remover tool is not finding any traces then please click run anyway and continue with the uninstallation process. Please follow the instruction ( http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product ) to run AVG Remover tool and AVG Clear tool. You can download your AVG program from the website (www.avg.com/download).
Best regards,
Alok.
I was having problems with the memory on my computer and after running WinDirStat I noticed avg was using up 16GB + of memory on my compter. I was unable to clear it up so decided to uninstall with the intention of installing again/looking for a smaller antivirus software.
I am unable to uninstall AVG. I cannot do it by simply uninstalling it through programs and features as I get an error code: 0xe001f96d.
Based on advice found on threads on here and online I downloaded the removal tool which does not find any traces of AVG on my computer despite them clearly being there...
I dont understand why the program is a) taking up so much space or b) near impossible to download short of a miracle.
Please help.
