Menu Selection doesn't work

After installing AVG Free I noticed that both My AVG and Menu selections in the upper right of the main screen don't work. I was trying to look at the quarantine file. I have run a repair of the installation and it updated some files but they still won't show anything or drop down. Can someone please tell me what to do next?

Thank you so much for your support on this issue. To let you know, yes I do have the18.8 free version installed. I am starting to wonder if the menu selection is suppose to work on the free version, can you verify this for me before I do the uninstall? Everything else is working fine, says my system is protected. I am a little confused about your uninstall comments. You say "Refer this article to uninstall AVG Antivirus free from control panel" The only thing I can see is the link to go to for the download. Correct me if I am wrong but don't I go to the add/remove programs and select AVG Antivirus, select uninstall and when I am given the choice to repair or uninstall I select uninstall? I will watch for your reply and go from there, Thankyou again.

Hello  Terry,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Do you have any other third party antivirus program installed on your PC?
Press Windows and R keys together to open RUN command.
In Run window, type as "services.msc" without the quotes and click on Ok.
In services window, search for AVG Antivirus and right click on it.
Select "restart" option and wait for the process to complete.
Once it is done, close the window and try accessing Menu from AVG Antivirus free window.
Is it okay, if we try reinstallation of AVG Antivirus free?

I restarted AVG in services.msc but it didn't help. Do I just go into the add/remove programs section and highlight AVG and select remove to uninstall it? I would assume that if this is correct I would just go to the AVG site and down load it again to re-install. Also just so you know this is going onto Windows XP SP3 so should I use the address www.avg.com/downloads and load the file from there again or should I use this other address I found, Antivirus for Windows XP | AVG Free Download? Thanks for the help…

Terry,
I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.
Yes, Menu option should work in free version of AVG.
You can either go to add/remove programs or download the link (AVG Clear and Remover tool - https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Uninstall-AVG-software ) from our article to uninstall AVG.
We are here if you need further help.

You are most welcome, Terry.
Yes, let us check whether the Menu works, if we restart the services of AVG Antivirus.
If not, we shall proceed with the reinstallation.
