From your description, it seems that you've hibernated the MS app while optimizing the computer using AVG TuneUp.
To check this : Open AVG TuneUp - Speed up - Background & startup programs - Scroll down to find 'Programs that are sleeping' - Expand it by clicking on the arrow beside it - Check if MS app is listed.
If listed, click on Wake beside it & then ignore it from being scanned in subsequent scans (in the same page, at top).
Please try the above step & let us know if it helps.

Hi,
can I ask whether this issue has been solved? Is it safe to use TuneUp again without running the risk to completely mess up Flight Simulator?
I find it a bit strange that these issues are transfered over into direct email exchanges and are then not followed up in the forum again. This is not an isolated issue; there are other flight sim users who have the same problem and it would be nice to find solutions here, if they are available.

This programme ceases to function after running AVG Tune up. Now occurred for a second time, confirming this to be the case. Start screen loads up and then the blue loading bar drags on and finally stops.

I had already looked at this, ref to  previous problems on this site on Microsoft  office. No it is not on the sleep list.
