Hi Alan,
Did you try boot into Windows safe mode, or use live cd (AVG Rescues CD) to remove infection.
Thanks
Thanks Jensq but as the screen is locked I do not see how I can apply either of your ideas. In any event I do not think I have Liam.x. I think it is just a ploy to get me to phone the number and download some dubious software.
Have you tried closing it down via the Taskmanager?
Liam.X seems to be adware, not a real virus. If this is the case ADWcleaner should do good work to remove it too.
My laptop has been locked by what I suspect is a bogus Microsoft pop up which tells me that my computer is infected with Liam.x virus. and that I should call a toll free number to deal with the issue. Two questions : 1. Should not AVG have stopped this getting onto my computer and 2. How do I get rid of it because it is impossible to close down the page or do anything. Thanks in advance.
