Microsoft office problems related to the actions of avg

there appears to be some conflict with my files which have been changed from EDIT mode to READ ONLY mode, the message i am being given is that AVG my antivirus is responsible.
has anyone else had this very annoying problem, if so is there any solution, please HELP !!!
