Microsoft Security Essentials conflict

Robert,
After recent AVG update, customer will receive notification as "AVG is in passive mode" when there are other security program installed on your PC.
This update was released to inform customers about the necessity of having a single antivirus program on their computer.
It is not recommended to have two security program running on same PC which might cause various issues for the PC at any time.
We do not want our customers to face any difficulties because of these conflicts with antivirus program.

Thank you for your help. I am getting the same message about "passive mode" BUT Security Essentials is not installed on my computer.  It was installed months ago, but I uninstalled it due continuing upgrade errors and installed AVG at that time.   AVG has been working fine until this change, (BTW: it would have been nice to have been notified that my computer is unprotected).
Questions:
Can AVG passive mode be turned off (make it active)?
MSE does not show in the list of programs that can be uninstalled, or in any of the file folders, what can be done to fix?
Is my only option to remove AVG and go back and and install and use MSE again?

The conflict between antivirus program is the same from the beginning but it is our duty to inform customers about the impact of the issues that would occur, hence we decided to highlight customers through this update. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

It is not possible to run AVG in active mode when Microsoft Security Essentials is installed on your PC but I assure you that AVG Antivirus protection will be more advanced and will provide the best protection for your PC.

Hello Rich,
