I'd request you to reinstall AVG and let us know if the issue persists.
Following a recent, automatic "update" by Microsoft, my AVG software has been removed, as Microsoft deem it to be redundant and "not compatible" with their own antivirus provision. Should I rely on Microsoft or ask for its reinstatement.?
Hi Avinash, I purchased AVG Antivirus in July 2020, so I assume it`s the latest version. When I switched on my computer, on the morning of Saturday 31 October(morning after the Microsoft update), Microsoft told me (in a window, on my screen) that AVG had been deleted, due to "incompatibility", but that I should not worry because I was covered by the new Microsoft Antivirus software. Is this correct, or not? Stewart.

Stewart, it is fine if that message is not on your screen anymore.
Usually, Windows defender comes preinstalled with the operating system. When you install AVG, the defender is off and the device security is taken over by AVG.
This is the first time we encountered this and it must be a conflict with new security updates downloaded during the Microsoft update.
We'd request you to go ahead and reinstall AVG and let us know if you experience any difficulties.

Stewart, we are unsure why the message appeared from Microsoft saying as AVG is compatible.

You can post the screenshot by clicking on 'Image' symbol from 'Answer' field.
