The computer was 64 bit
I removed AVG Internet Security and AVG Zen using the tools you described.
I connected the computer to the TV using the Wireless Adapter
I re intalled AVG. I clicked to download AVG Internet Security but it installed AVG Zen. I assume this is OK?
The adapter remained connected during and after the installation process.
I disconnected the adapter and tried to reconnect but it would not connect.
So, the situation remains the same. If I disable AVG the adapter will connect but it will not connect when AVG is running.
I really don't want to have to disconnect AVG everytime I use the wireless adapter.

Hi
The firewall is set to Auto
There is no blocking popup from the AVG program when trying to connect the Microsoft display adapter.
I have upgraded to Windows 10
I temporarily disabled AVG and was then able to connect the adapter. When I switched AVG back on the connection was maintained.
When I then disconnected from the TV and tried to connect again with AVG enabled it would not make the connection
Hello David. For your information AVG Zen is just an interface on which the AVG protection and Performance components gets installed. As per our record you have purchased the new AVG protection for multidevice. When you start installing this first the AVG Zen interface will get installed and then after logging into your AVG my account on Zen you will get only Protection get downloaded since you have purchased the subscription for that.
Any solution to this? I'm facing the same problem.

Hello David, sorry to know that. I request you to disable AVG and try again connecting adapter. Please refer this link http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-disable-AVG to disable AVG. Thank you.
I am running a Microsoft Surface 3 with Windows 8.1 and AVG 2015 protection. I recently bought a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter so that I could mirror my computer screen on my TV. The TV and the computer recognised the device but would not connect it. After hours of messing abou,t in desperation, I did a factory reset on the computer and the adpter connected first time. I reloaded AVG 2015 and the connection ceased. I uninstalled AVG 2015 and the connection worked fine again.
Is there anything I can do to continue using AVG and the adapter together?
Any solution to this? I'm facing the same problem.

I followed your instructions but could find no application named Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, Wireless Display Adapter , Miracast or anything that looked like it controlled the adapter. I found an application called Device Pairing and allowed this but it made no difference so I took it off again.
Note that the adapter is connected to the TV, not the PC, and I don't recall downloading any driver.
Hi David, thank you for trying the suggested steps. I am sending you the email instructions to get in touch with our technical team. Please follow the email steps to get in touch with our remote experts and they will fix this issue for you. Thank you.

I reloaded AVG and the connection stopped. I then got Microsoft Support to look at all possible causes using remote control of my PC. He disabled AVG but it still would not connect. I removed AVG and it connected again. The connection is terminated when the PC is turned off and has to be reconnected when turned on so disabling AVG each time I want to connect is not really feasable. The adapter is a relatively new product brought out in response to products like Chromecast. If sales take off AVG could get a lot of support requests such as mine. Is it possible for AVG to obtain a MS wireless adapter and test to see what is preventing connection and issue an update to fix it? I don't want to put AVG back on my PC until I am sure there is some chance of successfully connecting the adapter.
