Regarding the charge, you might have subscribed to AVG using your old/alternate email address & it would have been enrolled to automatic renewal during the time of purchase.

£44.99 has been taken from my bank account without my permission on the 3rd May, has anyone else experienced anything like this please?  Company was DRI AVG Technologies Order Find.com ie
