Hi, Avinash, and thanks for responding.
The threat detection notification popped up (once), and I answered, "What do you want to do?," by clicking the option to move the infected file to Quarantine. Then the words "Moving to Quarantine" appeared along with the progress bar. I clicked "Show Details"
The attached screenshot will show you what's been going on for several days now. The progress bar is still moving back and forth rapidly.
Several days ago, an AVG notification popped up: "Threat blocked!"…It was an .exe file in AppData infected with the IDP.Generic virus. I clicked "Move to Quarantine" and it has been in process in the background ever since. The progress bar moves rapidly from side to side, endlessly. I've been afraid to restart for fear the infected .exe file would not be quarantined.
I looked at the Quarantine file, and I see what must have been an earlier instance of IDP.Generic found on 9/14/2018.
Is it safe to restart my computer? Is my AVP corrupted? What else do I need to do? I'm a home user of AVP Free and not very tech savvy, and I thank you in advance for any advice!

Thank you for providing the screenshot. We'd request to check and uninstall the Amazon Music app if it is installed on your PC. If you do not have it installed, navigate to the file path mentioned on the detection pop up and try to remove the file manually. Reboot the PC and let us know if the pop ups continue.
Hello Allen.
We're here to help. Are you repeatedly receiving a threat detection pop up from AVG? Could you click 'See details' on that pop up and share a screenshot (http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot) of it to check it and assist you further?
