Hello Ray,
As you mentioned that after disabling the AVG program the problem still persists then it means that this issue isn't caused by our AVG program. It should be an issue with your Microsoft Office program. Are you using the trial version of our AVG PC tuneup?
Hi
Have had the problem for last fortnight (was simply unable to use Excel). Had it previously (since installing Windows 10) and it disappeared after a few days. Had a Windows update today and immediately tested whether the save fuction was working again. Fortunately all looks ok. Hope it lasts. We definitely need AVG & Microsoft to work more closely (assuming the anti virus is part of the problem)
I have AVG AntiVirus and TuneUp 2015. Both are subscriptions (not the free edition). I am receiving this same sharing error message since I updated to Windows 10 yesterday. Please send me any information you have to fix this problem. Thank you,
Hello,
I also have the sharing violation error, I'm using avg free edition 2015, microsoft excel 2010, windows 7.
if I disable AVG the problem is not occur. Could You please inform how to solve this problem. Thank you.

Hi Harminder,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please let me know the name of the AVG program that you are using in your system. We request you to disable AVG ( http://avgread.me/1GnMD3N ) in your system and check if Microsoft Office is working fine. Have you tried to repair Microsoft Office and checked if it is working fine?
Feel free to contact us if you have any queries with AVG products. Thank you.
Balasubramanian,
Thank you for your quick response. I misstated a very important component of my initial message. My (embarrassed) apology.
Please note that indeed when I disable AVG Free Edition 2015 the problem does not occur. It only occurs when AVG is enabled. Of course I would prefer to use AVG since it has served me well in the past. Please provide information that will help me continue using AVG without having problems with Excel.
I used the trial version of AVG PC Tuneup a while back but it is not longer on my PC.
Thank you in advance for what I hope will be a solution to this problem.
Hello,
In the past couple of days I have been getting an "ms-dos function" error message when I have tried to save updated versions of Excel (MS Office Porfessional 10, Windows 10). I am now unable to save any updates to files. A similar message I also get (again with Excel) when I try and do the same thing is:
"When saving a file, a sharing violation can be caused by the way an antivirus application interacts with Microsoft Office.
Check with your antivirus provider to make sure that the current version of the application, including updates, is installed. The antivirus provider might also have information or solutions for sharing violation issues"
I have checked all updates for AVG Antivirus and all OK, and have run a full computer scan and no problems.
This is very frustrating and unable to save any updates at the moment - any ideas?
Thanks.

Rubina,
Please send the same remote support information to me since I am having the most recently reported issues that are the same as what Harminder reported last month. Thank you.
A couple of days ago I began having this sharing violation problem although I have used AVG Free Edition 2015, Windows 10 and Excel 2010 together for a couple of months without experiencing any problems. Disabling AVG as Komal suggested to Harminder did not help. Are there any updates regarding solution?
