MS Outlook Generates Applcation Communication Request

So Microsoft Outlook is a threat if I am in Interactive firewall mode? I am sorry, but you must think I'm some kind of idiot for you to provide the simple miinded  "answer"  that you did. Do you think I'm completely ignorant of what a firewall is and you have to explain it to me like I am a child? AVG can't be trusted to make my firewall decisions OR detect many threats. AVG also alerts OFTEN on false positives for Trojans. If you don't think end-users should have any control over AVG's behaviour, then REMOVE THE FEATURES! Obviously, you will lose a lot of business because some of us end-users actually do understand what we are doing. I'm going starting looking for a new Internet Security suite that I can trust AND control. It looks and sounds to me like your tech staff is undertrained. I think AVG is just adding warm bodies to the tech support staff so turnaround times are faster for customers. Too bad you cannot solve the problem I originally asked and just wrote an explaination of what a firewall is instead!

Hello Elaine,

The Interactive mode of Firewall is recommended to be used only if you want to fully control all network traffic to and from your computer. The Firewall will monitor it for you and notify you of each attempt to communicate or transfer data, enabling you to allow or block the attempt as you see fit. Recommended for advanced users only.
So we recommend you to change the mode to "AUTOMATIC"  so that the Firewall handles all network traffic automatically. You will only be asked what to do in the rare case that the Firewall neither knows the application that is trying to connect over the network, nor is it able to figure out whether the application is safe, based on its behavior.
Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.

I activated MS Oulook with a Volume Licence. I want full control over my firewall so I use "Interactive" mode. Recently, each time I open Outlook, I have to manually allow the application. Creating an exception doesn't work. AVG ignores it.  If I use "Automatic" firewall mode, no Application Communcation Request is generated. Tech support told me there is nothing I can do - it just works that way. And, that  should just use "Interactive" mode. Then why offer "Ineractive" firewall if at all?  It's realtively new issue (a month or two). I told him that if he didn't do somethig about it, I am looking for a different product. I am still waiting for a response after uploding my system logs and now checking out other firewall and antivirus software. Too many false positives with AVG Antivrus as well.
