Ok, this is strange, this same thing started happening to me this week.  Same situation, when i get back on my computer, and page is open that says the same thing.  I doubt this is related to my ISP … it's got to be related to AVG.  Too much of a coincidence?  I've been using AVG for about 6 months now.  THe web page is  http://www.msftconnecttest.com/cgi-bin/ipdiags.ha  and the page says 408  Request Timeout.  It usually shows up on about 2 web pages.

I sat down at my computer this morning (which was left on) to find a web page opened to http://www.msftconnecttest.com/cgi-bin/ipdiags.ha. What was on my screen looked like my AT&T  (fiber) router page but with the above URL instead of  the default gateway address. It appeared to be the Diagnostics->Troubleshooting tab and (I don't remember the wording) indicated that the issue was fixed. Interesting enough, when I sign onto my router, it is the same URL, but with an IP address instead of msftconnecttest.com.

Virus scans found nothing.

Any ideas?

P.S. My son just asked me what that URL was. Apparently, the same thing was on his computer too except it had "404 page not found" on the screen.

Neither of us had it redirected. That url was just open when we went to use our computers this morning. No, it has not come up since. I have AVG Free 21.5.3185 and AVG Secure browser 91.1.10672.126.

It was as if an app launched the website. But, the screen looked like this:

but with the above URL instead of an IP address.
