Hello Lucy,
I certainly understand your concern. For your information any antivirus program would think some of the files of the programs installed on your PC would harm it and that is reason it detects it and removes as a threat as per the virus database. The same concept is being followed for our AVG antivirus program too and if your detected program is a trusted one then we request our customer to submit us the sample via http://samplesubmit.avg.com/ for further analysis and only if we confirm that it is a trusted program we will add it to the future virus definitions. If you wish to use the program then you can add it to the exceptions of AVG by following the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/18WB2dg .
Please feel free to contact us should you need any assistance.
Thank you.
Had a virus detection today for MSIL9.APTH, found (supposedly) in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\ImageBrowser EX\MFManager.exe
which has been installed for over a year and is part of a photo-editing suite.
However the AVG virus database page doesn't list it, and various other anti-virus programs don't detect anything. Internet search engines are eerily devoid of information about this virus too.
Is this a real threat? Why isn't it listed in t AVG virus/malware database?
