Multiple instances of AVG on computer

Okay, I have done that, and that's still what's showing up. Also, in the process of uninstalling it, the AVG program stated I needed to uninstall AVG Protection first in order to uninstall it. So I'm guessing that this is how it's supposed to be?

Hello Brionna,
Sorry to know that you have issues after updating AVG.
Could you please let us know the name of the AVG program you have installed in your computer?
Thank you.

Hello Brionna,
We regret the inconvenience caused. From your description we could see that you had installed AVG Protection free along with AVG ZEN. When you open AVG ZEN you could find AVG Protection free, AVG PC Tune up, Secure VPN and Webtune up. Previously you were using older version of AVG free which did not include the AVG ZEN. that is the reason why you were having only one icon named as AVG Protection. At present you had installed AVG 2017 version of AVG free which includes AVG ZEN by default, resulting in two icons "AVG and AVG Protection". Like wise you can see corresponding services in the startup application and we confirm that  it's normal behavior of the latest version of AVG 2017.
Thank you for understanding.

I seem to have multiple instances of AVG on my computer after updating it in the last few days.

I have 2 programs - "AVG" and "AVG Protection" - listed in my installed programs.

I also have a total of 3 startup items: two instances of AvgUi / AVG Ui (Re)Starter, and then AVGUI / AvLaunch component.

Is this supposed to happen, or did I mess up the update?

I am using AVG Antivirus Free edition

Okay, thank you for your help!
