Hello Michael,
We are happy to know that you have successfully set up AVG with your Thunderbird email client. The port number you have set is correct and you can use any of the ports for Outlook account. The virus check is always recommended for outgoing emails because, in rare case, if your computer is infected by virus and the email attachment you send will transmit those virus from your computer to the recipient of your email. And their computer too will be affected. For extra security it is recommended to scan outgoing emails.
Thank you.
Hi all,
I'm setting up communication between AVG and Thunderbird to check secured incoming e-mail.
Actually my 7 POP3 Gmail accounts pass by 127.0.0.1 on port 5100.
And my 2 POP3 Yahoo accounts pass by 127.0.0.1 on port 5300.
Now all incoming e-mails are checked by AVG before they enter Thunderbird (with 9 accounts on one "Global Account").
I'm happy that this works but I don't have a clue of what I'm doing.
Question 1: Is this the proper choice of the ports ?
Question 2: I now also want to add my Outlook.com account. Which port to choose (i.e. 5301 or 10000), or can it be any ?
And lastly: Why do people advise against setting up viruscheck for outgoing messages on multiple encrypted accounts in Thunderbird?
Any help will be appreciated
