My AVG Free for Mac just stopped working

I've been using this for years without any issues. This morning it was working fine and updated, then for some reason it stopped appearing and now it will not open. Uninstalled that version and downloaded a new one. It successfully installed but like the previous one it will not open.

There is no error message to send because the application simply stopped being accessible after the latest update. Here are the sequence of events from Wednesday, February 21st:
1) Started iMac (OS Sierra) and after AVG update finished the icon in the menu bar went away. Tried to open it from icon in the dock and nothing happened. Went back to applications and tried to launch it from there. Still nothing happened. Since I couldn't access any part of the application I couldn't uninstall. Simply removed the application to the trash, rebooted and downloaded a new a application from your site. Showed that it successfully installed, but still would not open.
2) Started MacBook Pro (OS High Sierra)  and had the same identcal problem after the AVG update.
3) Rebooted my iMac using a previously cloned external backupdrive as the startup disk. Had not cloned it for several months so it had the older version (former interface) of AVG. As soon as it updated the same thing happened.
4) Rebooted my MacBook from it's cloned external backup drive and uninstalled the AVG program from it before it updated.
I really liked using AVG, especially after you changed the interface. The application icon appeared faster in the menu bar on launch and it seem to work more seamlessly in the background. However, it's no longer working for me on either of my Macs.
Thanks for your follow up. Let me know if you can figure out why it no longer opens. In the meantime I simply went back to Avast.

I had the same problem this afternoon, it just suddenly disappeared!
