I had the same problem as Dorothy and the same solution has helped, except that:
Since I do not want to use the sensitive data component, it is turned off by choice. However the icons showing next to the system clock indicates with a very red and very upsetting warning that "you are unprotected". In fact, every other component is turned on and the system appears to be well protected.
I cannot use the sensitive data shield since this may disrupt my system of transferring the data to my office workstation which is protected with other security software. In any case all of my sensitive data is encrypted with AxCrypt on both machines.
How can I eliminate this unwarrented and unwanted warning.

Please help me! Last night and this morning my AVG window has a message in red at the top. It says: "Some Shields are turned OFF"
"Please turn on your Anti-Exploit Shield, Anti Rootkit Shield, Sensitive Data Shield and Webcam Protection for maximum protection" followed by a green button which says "TURN ON".
Below this all the elements of AVG (Computer, Web & Email etc etc) are ticked .I have clicked the green button (more than once) and nothing happens. The regular scan ran at midnight and said there were no problems. On investigating Settings, the Sensitive Data Shield says it's on, I don't know where to find Anti Exploit Shield, Anti Rootkit Shield or Webcam Protection. Am I in trouble?
Thank you, Dorothy
Maurice, we have a solution for this.
Open AVG Internet Security program interface.
Click on "Menu–>Settings–>General–>Troubleshooting".
Click on "Modify components" option and uncheck "sensitive data shield".
Proceed with the installation and wait for it to make the changes.
Once it is done, you shouldn't find sensitive date shield component installed.
Thank you.
