My avg program will not open. Please advise why and how to open the program

May I know the AVG program you are unable to open?

Is the icon not responsive or do you receive an error message?

My avg program will not open.  Please advise why and how to open.

Colleague,

The icon most times is not responsive.
When it responds it is several minutes after the icon was presses to activate.
These times when it does respond, which is rare, a blank screen approximately 7 inches by 5 1/2  inches appears and blocks out part of the screen on which I am presently working/viewing.
