Most likely your  email has been hacked. Have you tried changing password?

John, if my email has been hacked, wouldn't these emails be going to people in my address book?  I don't know anyone these are being sent to, and I don't know the person whose name is listed in the "From:" line.  My only involvement is that my email address is being used as the return address, and I'm consequently getting notifications of the failed deliveries.  It is easy to tell your email software to show someone else's email address as the "From" address instead of your own, and this is what this virus is doing.  This makes it much more difficult for the person with the infected computer to find out this is going on.

Basically it's a long story

If your friend sends you an unsolicited email to you. without his knowing it. You should know that you should not open it, to click on a link and so on

It is advisable to tell him that you get an email from him. He must take measures

Someone else has a virus on their computer sending out emails to people in their address book, using MY email address as the return address.  What, if anything, can I do to stop this???
