My email address book has been hacked even though I am protected by AVG

Hello Robert.

We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. May I know if it is an email client like Outlook you use to check your email or do you login to your email account in a web browser? Thank you.

Hi. In October 2015 I started to receive information from friends and undelivered email advice saying they were receiving rubbish emails under my email address. My broadband provider is Virgin and my service provider is Talk Talk which was Tiscali and previously Tinyworld. What can I do to resolve the situation and stop this happenning in the future? Should my AVG protection allowed this to happen? How much responsibility do Virgin and Talk Talk have with this? Is this part of the Talk Talk cyber attack?

Please advise!

Thank you for your reply.
Yes I use Outlook Express.

Hi Robert,

It is likely that your address book has been attached by a virus in the past.  Typically, Outlook Express is a target for many virus writers, who look to steal email addresses and spread their horrible viruses to other people.

Are you able to contact Virgin Media and ask them if they change your email address?

Thank you for your reply.
Yes I use Outlook Express.
