Hi Deborah,
We're glad to help you with the info.
From your description, we see that your husband has purchased a subscription & you already have an AVG subscription which is about to expire.
If they both are the same kind of subscription, then you can cancel your subscription & continue to use your husband's subscription by reactivating the program on your computer.
As it isn't recommended to share the account details over this post, we've sent you an email requesting it.

My husband bought brand new extended protection because he was told that the avg on his had expired when he was trying to file our taxes, when it only needed to be updated. His and my computer were already covered and it is set to renew this month.
I have not done anything with the Email his computer sent me to apply the new AVG yet.
My AVG is still working under a separate security plan now.
It is set to update shortly in the next week or two. How do I apply the service he bought and discontinue what I am presently using without being charged for two AVG policies?
What is the best way for me to switch coverages? We do not need two.
Deborah
We'll be glad to help with your concern.
However to check your AVG subscriptions, we request you to create a post/query in our community post as we're not advised to get your email address here.
Thanks for your understanding.
I have the same issue, keeps me in a loop prompting to purchase or getting error message when signing out and back into AVG>My AVG on windows pc of "Something went wrong"
