My PC won’t connect to internet

Since late July I have had problems connecting and staying connected to the internet.  I have wifi and Ethernet, neither will stay connected.  We have no connection issues on our phones so it isn’t an internet problem.  I’m thinking maybe an AVG or Windows update caused the problem?  Sometimes it says it’s connected but I can’t access anything on the internet.  When I look at the firewall it says Microsoft Edge is enabled.

I have tried that too.  Last night I shut it off for 1 hour and I still wasn't able to connect

Hello Brenda,
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We are  sorry to know that you are unable to connect with internet. We'll certainly check and help you out.
Enhanced Firewall monitors all network traffic between your PC and the outside world to protect you from unauthorized communication and intrusions. This feature is designed to require minimal input from you. To ensure you are protected, all you need to do is keep Enhanced Firewall enabled.
Enhanced Firewall (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=use-avg-antivirus-enhanced-firewall&q=firewall&supportType=home) creates default rules for an app when it starts for the first time. Since ou can see Microsoft Edge enabled, it can access the internet.
I request you check if the connected network is trusted. You can manually specify that an individual network is either trusted or untrusted by following the steps below:
-Open AVG Antivirus and select the Web & Email tile.
-Click Open above Enhanced Firewall.
-Select the Networks tab.
-Click Show settings next to the relevant network, then choose one of the following options:
  - I trust this network: The recommended option for a private network. When you select this option, the network is marked as a Trusted network.
  - I don't trust this network: The recommended option for a public network. When you select this option, the network is marked as an Untrusted network.
If you are still unable to access the internet, I request you temporarily disable the firewall and check if you can access the internet. To disable Enhanced Firewall temporarily:
-Open AVG Antivirus and select the Web & Email tile.
-Click Open above Enhanced Firewall.
-Click the green (ON) slider, then select a time duration.
-Click OK, stop in the dialog that appears.
Enhanced Firewall is temporarily disabled. To enable Enhanced Firewall, follow steps 1-2 above, then click the slider so that it changes from red (OFF) to green (ON).
If you can access the internet after disabling firewall, please let us know.
Thank you and keep us updated.
