Please let us know the operating system of your computer & the type of scheduled scan (such as deep, quick scan) with which you're experiencing this issue. (You can check the type of scan by clicking on Edit beside the custom scan that is stuck).
Meanwhile, please try repairing AVG program & restart computer once to check if it helps.
My scan is scheduled to start at 1:00am. When I get up at 6:30am the scan is still running and never finishes even though I am away from my computer all day.
I believe it is a nightly quick scan. I use Windows 10 on a desktop.
The link for repairing the program does not work.
