Hello Kate,
We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. The new update for AVG Anti-Virus has included AVG Zen. AVG Zen is an user interface and we can mange and access all your AVG installed devices from Zen. The temp folder will have files created whenever we use, update, remove, install and change the program in our computer. A temporary file or temp file is a file created to hold information temporarily while a file is being created. This files can be deleted before Shutting down and after starting up the computer which helps us to speed up the computer.
Please, feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.
Since AVG Free updated itself a few weeks ago (and included Zen, which I didn't need/want), some new folders have appeared in C:/Windows/Temp, e.g. avg_ash2 wherein are further folders like "Internet Explorer" and "Flash Player ActiveX", some of which are empty, some not. Can someone tell me why these are being created, please, and what they are for?
The folders at present in Windows/Temp are : Adobe Reader, Flash Player ActiveX, Internet Explorer, Java Runtime Environment 8 (32 bit), Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Mozilla Firefox. As I said before, these are all within a folder entitled avg_ash2, so they must be created by AVG. I have not updated, removed, installed or changed any of these programs. If I delete them, like you suggest, they are just re-created, so what is AVG doing and why?
