Hello Noush,
We realize this must be upsetting. We will definitely look into this for you.
Please be informed that the version 18.8 is the one that would get installed for Windows XP and Vista platforms.
Checking your account history, we couldn't locate any of your previous contacts with AVG. Please let us know if you have any case number to check your case history.
We request you to change the type of internet connection and get connected with us. Else, uninstall AVG Internet Security program and stay in touch with us using LAN connection. You can click this link to get connected with our chat team.
After renewing subsc. to the AVG Ultimate and installed it on my old PC the tune up was hanging up and had to shut power to get out, spent two days and few hours on phone and eventually a tech remotely deleted the programs and installed the correct versions, but trying a bit later I was back to square 1, not being able to get on line, the only way I get my LAN connection back is to uninstall the Internet security. seems the supported Ver. for XP is 18.8 or lower.
Any help and suggestion is appreciated.

To make things clear, the problem started when I recieced the E mail confirming my renewal and contained links to load the products, I followed the links for Internet security for windows and PC tuneup for windows, it did not load the proper software and in refrence to my initial post here itn would hang up the machine and had to shut the power and the LAN was also disabled, a long time on the phone with support did not solve the problem, later when I got the LAN back by deleting internet security I contacted the support and someone remotely installed the software (the latest version) which repeated the probleb the next day, at which point I uninstalled Internet security again and loaded the free version and then I poisted to the community.
The latest replies did not give me a clear answer, since yesterday I have tried to install on my Tablet, again after going to my subscribtions and following the link for Antivirus for Android, which takes me to Play store to load antivirus free, after loading it wants me to pay for ad free product.
This whole episode is getting to be tiresome and so far has wasted a lot of my time.
Thanks for the responce, the case # is 09272882. In frustration I have deleted the Internet security and downloaded the AVG free to have some basic coverage, the PC Tune up is stll installed but thinking of deleting it also. I don't know what product is associated with "avgui.exe", when I turn on the machine everything is at a crawl for arond ten minutes, according to task manager avgui is taking up 90 to 99% of CPU time.
My basic gripe is why the AVG program doesn't identify the operating system and tell us this version is not compatible and suggest a proper version rather than wasting a lot of customer and tech reps. On the confirmation Email I received after renewing the subscribtion was a link to download AVG Ultimate for windows which I followed and caused the problems.
I need to install anti virus in our other devices but at this point, can not trust an easy install and may need to find an alternative.
Noush, we were not aware that you are trying the activation on Android device.
It is necessary to perform the activation manually even in Android device.
Refer this article and follow the steps as mentioned under "Activation Code" topic.
Use the code that we have sent via email now and perform the activation.
Regarding windows XP computer, we request you to perform the reinstallation using our tools as suggested earlier and see whether it helps.
You can proceed to run AVG Clear and remover tool as mentioned in this article (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Troubleshoot-upgrade-AVG-Internet-Security) to remove old and new version traces of AVG Antivirus/Internet Security.
Once done with this, install AVG Internet Security using this https://install.avcdn.net/avg/iavs9x-xp/avg_internet_security_setup_offline.exe link.
Open AVG Internet Security program interface.
Click on "My AVG–>My Subscriptions–>Log into account".
Enter your AVG MyAccount credentials and check whether the subscription is getting activated.
Check the status with CPU usage and inform us here.
