Hello Tom. Sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. I would request you to check the "Themes" service is started and running or not in your computer. To check the services that are running, please follow the steps below.
1) Click Start and type Services.msc
2) You will now see Services.msc appear in the list above. Select this to access the Services window.
3) Scroll down to locate the "Themes" service. Double-click it to access the Properties window for that service to start it (if it is stopped).
Also please go to device manager and check your graphic driver status.

Hello, Today May 14th, 2015 I got notified that AVG Free had downloaded an update and required a system reboot. Upon the reboot I got a notification in the notification area that a system file (event notification???) could not be accessed. Computer working okay but I no longer have the aero transparency theme running in Windows 7. Matter of fact I can't even click on the aero themes under personalization (like they are grayed out). Any help would be appreciated.
