I just came here to report an issue with the new AVG update that apparently everyone else is already experiencing and reporting. The new AVG Update that was released on September 1, 2020 continuously drains system ram. I have 32gb of physical memory in my Windows 7 Pro machine. I do not have any other Anti-Virus/Security Software installed. I have not installed a new application on my system in a looooong time.
Today I was pushed the new update of AVG. Several times since installing it, I had gotten a Windows message telling me that I have run out of memory (and often blaming the problem on another application, such as Firefox.) I would reboot and then an hour or two later, I would get the error message again. I reboot again and did not run Firefox or any other program, except my HWInfo hardware monitoring app, and I watched 32gb of memory literally drain down to zero with nothing else running.
I suspected it was AVG since this issue only occurred once I allowed the update. I uninstalled AVG and rebooted with no AV installed. I again watched HWInfo and there was no memory drain at all. This solidifies my hypothesis that the new AVG was the cause. I re-installed AVG from an older Offline Installer I downloaded two months ago. I've been running that version perfectly fine for a couple hours now with no memory leak. I don't know why the new AVG is draining memory, but it is.
